The HTEA is honored to offer a scholarship in honor and memory of William J.
“Bill” O’Brien, former president of the Association. Bill was dedicated to civic and community service and during his tenure as a
teacher in Howell Township, he touched the lives of many students. Through
this scholarship, Bill will continue to influence and assist students. Bill’s
philosophy of hard work, community service, and success through
determination, dedication, and drive is reflected in the scholarship
requirements. Bill believed that people are more than a number…there are many components
to being a successful student and a productive citizen. While a GPA is
important, it is only one aspect of you as a person. Successful candidates for
this scholarship must have attended Howell Township elementary/middle
schools, a minimum GPA of 2.5, a documentable record of community service,
and a civic minded attitude demonstrated in the accompanying essay.
